Garden Whimsy...

I was out in our garden today examining how things are faring when I realized we have a lot of quircky objects in our garden. Of course, a little whimsy in a garden is a good thing. Seeing them all here one would think that our garden is a little strange, but each of these items is tucked away or invisible amonst the flora. They are barely noticeable unless you look close. Thinking more about them and doing a little research, they all have profound symbolism. I love the big lips on the pot above. To me, it symbolizes love.
Above is the lion head on our bird bath. It is a symbol of "strength and power." It serves as protector of our garden.

Sorry VT, better luck next time. For those that saw the game yesterday, you will know what I mean. In general garden gnomes bring good luck. Hopefully, this gnome will bring us better luck than VT.
Apparently, the ram's head on one of our fountains is a good karma symbol. "It is said to be symbolic of the upward flow of Spirit...as in a fountain...the universal consciousness in its creative aspect. It is also thought to be representative of a sprouting seed, from which germination results in the tree and fruit. In its seed form, it is said to symbolize potentiality. As this symbol appears to move upward then outward and finally downward, it signifies the ultimate sacrifice of Spirit in its descent into the Realms of Matter." Huh, who knew! I just thought it looked good.

So sad about VT...I watched the end of the third quarter and the start of the fourth and then gave up.
I just loved reading your site! The photographs are just amazing. I finally know the best way to keep up with you and John. Thanks for being kind enough to post John's lovely gnome gift on the site. Hopefully you will continue to speak to me, but I think it fits in nicely with the rest of your garden. I need to come back to visit you both. Thanks for letting me live vicariously in your shoes.
