Italian Terra-Cotta...

Ever since our first trip to Italy a couple years ago, I have been enamored with Italian style. One of the strongest examples of Italian style is terra-cotta pots/tiles. Since the time of the Etruscans, northern and central Italian clay has produced the strongest, hardest, and most durable terra-cotta in the world. The roof tiles on the Duomo in Florence are made of Impruneta clay (the best in the world) and have been in place for over 500 years! After going to the SF Flower and Garden show this year and seeing several examples of fine terra-cotta pottery, I decided to research some local dealers in imported Italian pottery. One dealer, Collezione, caught my eye. They are located in Menlo Park down the peninsula from SF. John and I drove down this weekend to peruse their showroom. They had many wonderful pieces, and not wanting to walk away empty handed, I purchased the vase to the left. It is called the Dragon Vase, and it is made of Impruneta clay. It is too fine of a specimen to be relegated to the garden, so it will remain indoors as a wonderful example of Italian art and design that I love so much.

Well, Curt, you're SUPPOSED to reminisce about our travels to Italy...and how much better OUR trip was than your business trip to Naples.

So will the interior of your house be tweaked? I don't remember it being very terra-cotta-ey.
